A profile piece on Joel Soisson appeared on Star News Online, who caught up to the producer on the set of Piranha 3Dd . Soisson described the sequel: “This one is so outlandish in places. I hope it works because it really pushes all the boundaries slightly pushed in the first one.”

John Gulager directs this time out with Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton on script duties – the same triumvirate that gave us the Feast trilogy…and we now how nutty that got. The film apparently wrapped on May 27, so it is well on its way to its November 23 release date.

The US trailer for John Carpenter’s The Ward has finally hit the web, check it out below. It is the exact same trailer used for the UK release except for some audio, a couple of logos and an edited shot in the end.

Now remember how we told you the theatrical release was going to be limited? Check out the official Cinedigm website for a list of confirmed locations, so far only 10 are shown. We’ll keep you posted on this.

The Ward stars Amber Heard, Danielle Panabaker and Mamie Gummer. It hits select US theaters on July 8, 2011. But expect a VOD release before, on June 8!

The new one-sheet for John Carpenter’s The Ward has been released, the official poster for the highly anticipated release of the film. An exciting, much better design than the one being used to promote the film around the globe if you ask me, and rightfully giving credit to Danielle Panabaker and the rest of the stars, including: Amber Heard, Mamie Gummer, Laura-Leigh, Lyndsy Fonseca and Jared Harris. Sorry for the late news! UK fans can now enjoy a special early release of John Carpenter’s The Ward on Sky Box Office. This is available to anyone with SKY but you can also create an account and simply pay per view, you can even watch it online. For a video tutorial on how to use SKY Box Office visit this website.

In the US, The Ward will get a VOD (Video On Demand) release on June 8, followed by a limited theatrical release on July 8, 2011.

It’s official guys, John Carpenter’s The Ward will be hitting US theaters and homes this summer!

Just as I stated before, the release will have three parts:

• The Ward will be made available on VOD (Video On Demand) on June 8th, 2011.
• A theatrical release is planned for July 8th, 2011.
• Blu-ray and DVD release on August 2nd, 2011.

Extremely sad news for all of us expecting to finally see John Carpenter’s The Ward this month.

Warner Bros told Dan of the Geek:

“The current Blu-ray and DVD configurations of The Ward are not in the preferred aspect ratio of Warner Home Video UK. In order to release The Ward in the theatrically shot aspect ratio of 2.35 we are moving the release date to October 10th 2011.”

Those are five months right there. It is a lot better than releasing the film in the wrong aspect ratio, but it’s still a long time. Guess we’ll have to wait for the US DVD/Blu-ray release in August now.

The Ward will have two screenings during the Seattle International Film Festival as part of the Midnight Adrenaline, To the Extreme Pathway and Northwest Connections programs:
